The bass-baritone Luis Ferdinand Weidlich (*2002) grew up in Munich and gained his first musical experiences playing the clarinet, saxophone, and piano.
Since October 2022, Luis has been studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (HMTM) in the class of Prof. Lars Woldt.
In 2021, he was awarded a first prize at the national competition "Jugend musiziert" in the category Art Song Duo, as well as the special prize of the Neue Musikzeitung at the "WESPE" competition.
He took part in the acclaimed world premiere of the XR music theatre production "nimmersatt" at the Munich Biennale, and has performed in the Musiktheater im Reaktor as "Masetto" and "Commendatore" in Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In an independent opera production in Oberhaching near Munich, he also sang the role of "Escamillo" in Bizet’s Carmen.
Luis is a scholarship holder of the Richard Wagner Association Munich and a recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium.
Until March 2026, Luis is pursuing his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
